Description

The church of the Virgin Mary Sergena (Panagia Trypa) is built into the rock 20 meters above ground level, west of the village of Vothonas. In the past, believers climbed up to it on a wooden staircase. Tradition says that they took refuge here for protection against pirate raids, and after going up to the church they pulled up the wooden staircase that they used.
