Description

During the last few years, the Ifestia Festival or Volcano Festival has been celebrated in mid September under the auspices of the Municipality of Thira and the Municipal Athletic, Cultural, and Environmental Organization of Santorini. During the festival, there is a simulation of a volcanic eruption, as the sky fills with thousands of fireworks launched from the volcano and from boats, giving the visitor the feeling of a real volcanic eruption. During the few day long celebration, additional cultural events, concerts, speeches, etc. take place.
